We have a brand new opportunity for a talented and motivated Design Lead to inspire and motivate our teams designing Australia's most popular and high-profile apps.

You must be passionate about design and care about the small details which make a product really great to use. Importantly, you will have strong leadership skills to motivate and manage teams of designers across Australia.

This is a dream role for someone who values the impact that design has on a product and can help us articulate the benefits to our clients and their customers alike.

What does the role involve?

  • Leading small/medium sized teams of UX and UI designers across multiple states (some travel will be required)
  • Ensuring design artifacts are delivered on time and are of a development-ready quality
  • Preparing and facilitating a variety of workshops to explore insights and gather requirements e.g customer journey mapping
  • Creating and maintaining close client relationships at project level through to senior leadership
  • Working iteratively with our agile development teams to ensure the design prerequisites are ready
  • Presenting regular key design updates to senior stakeholders to keep them informed
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure that the technical dependencies and possible user experience risks are handled up front
  • Leading estimation sessions for UX & UI design work across multiple projects/platforms
  • Working closely with programme leads and senior technical leads to inform the overall design programme of work
  • Ensuring a balance is met between achieving strategic goals of the business and needs of our users

What do we look for in a suitable candidate?

  • Proven experience managing teams of UX and UI designers on large digital transformation projects (mobile is a preference).
  • Proven experience managing teams in different locations, driving high levels of coordination and consistency of output.
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience, with a clear ability to engage business and technical stakeholders alike, from project level to senior manager level.
  • Excellent ability to rationalise design choices.
  • Excellent understanding of mobile design patterns and guidelines.
  • Experience in HCD including research, journey mapping, personas, concepting, prototyping, usability testing etc.
  • Experience with Agile software delivery and coordinating with large scale development teams to bring designs into production.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work at high speed, multi-task, and manage multiple projects at once with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable about the mobile industry and mobile trends.
  • Degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design or Psychology

Nice to have

  • Experience creating/maintaining design language systems (DLS)
  • Understanding of digital strategy and how this informs design
  • Interest in emerging design tools/techniques
