General Manager, Outware Mobile - Brisbane

We collaborate with our clients to deliver all elements of their mobile requirements from front-end design and development to backend infrastructure and integration.

We were founded in Melbourne in 2009 and this month Outware will celebrate our 200th team member. In the last 2 years, we have seen our Sydney presence grow from 0 to a team of over 45.

We are now looking to build a fully functional multi-disciplinary team that can deliver projects locally in Brisbane. To kick it off we are looking for a passionate and entrepreneurial leader.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to leverage the learnings and support of the wider Outware business to rapidly create a high-performing team.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with well-established networks. They will be heavily involved in the commercial aspects of establishing the new team including supporting and participating in business development.

The successful candidate will spend some time-based in the Melbourne office to gain an insight into Outware’s culture and working process and practices.

This role will report directly to our Executive Director.

Role and responsibilities

  • Deep alignment with Outware’s values and vision
  • Provide inspirational leadership to the Brisbane team including shaping the culture and development of the Brisbane team
  • Work with the Melbourne and Sydney teams to identify and deliver process improvements and achieve leverage, reusability and economies of scale
  • Establish and adhere to budget for Brisbane office
  • Support recruitment of key staff including developers, QA, Design, UX
  • Work closely with the Management team and BD team to set up the Brisbane office and attract new clients
  • Support winning and delivering projects
  • Continuously enhance Outware’s approach to client relationship management.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategy and change management initiatives
  • Provide technology leadership in defining technology strategies by maintaining a detailed understanding of world best practice initiatives within Technology in general and an awareness of global developments and practices

  • Knowledge of Agile software development

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of industry trends and technology

To ensure your success, we anticipate our ideal candidate to bring similar skills and experience to:

  • A proven record of success working in a senior management team and successfully led a technology/digital function
  • A minimum 5 years experience in senior management ideally working in a technology organisation
  • Previous experience in leading a sizeable technology Business Unit and achieving targets set (i.e. financial and non-financial)
  • Business and/or management qualifications at a graduate or post-graduate level
  • Specific business studies such as Management of Information Technology will be well regarded as will any formal training in mobile or web technology
