Your role:

Reporting to the Head of Group IT Security, as our new Security Engineer, you will be responsible for managing group wide security controls and infrastructure and working as part of a security operations team that has technical oversight of infrastructure delivery within MelbourneIT Group. You will be actively assessing the threat landscape for new and emerging threats, and providing an effective incident response capability. You will discover system weaknesses and recommend improvements, as well as build new systems to support our security strategy and support the improvement of overall corporate and customer security. 

What YOU get to do:

  • Oversee the operation and delivery of the group’s infrastructure and security controls/systems.
  • Manage various security tools to support new services and infrastructure requirements.
  • Contribute to effective security operations – from threat prevention/detection through to incident response.
  • Work on a number of technical security projects that operate across on premise and cloud environments.
  • Execute threat & vulnerability management processes, working with wider group functions to mitigate risks.
  • Review and improve existing processes and procedures in an agile and fast moving IT environment to mitigate security risks.
  • Support Group security strategy, and participate in team goals to ensure success for the organisation

What YOU will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Security is highly advantageous
  • Previous experience in IT Security industry as an analyst or engineer is essential.
  • Solid network engineering skills
  • Strong understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Programming or scripting knowledge is advantageous
  • Experience with common information security management frameworks
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills
  • The ability to manage conflicting priorities in an environment of continuous change and complexity
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Team player with a desire to collaborate
  • A proactive, can-do attitude
